VIRTUAL ARTIST LED WORKSHOP: FOIL ANIMAL SCULPTURES

On the occasion of Radical Resilience exhibiting artist Matthuas Lam will lead a workshop that will guide participants through sculpting techniques to transform aluminum foil into delightful animal forms.
Turn an ordinary household material into something extraordinary! Grab a roll of aluminum foil and join us for this virtual workshop where we will twist, scrunch and shape unique animal forms. No prior experience needed and appropriate for all ages. The artist uses Reynolds foil sheets, but any kind of aluminum foil will do!
About the Teaching Artist: Matthaus Lam, an autistic individual, is passionate about sculpting. Beginning with Play-Doh at 5, he later crafted detailed animals with various materials, including paper and food. He transitioned to using tin foil and clay, creating lifelike sculptures ranging from wildlife to mythological beings. He’s taught foil art in various settings and crafted a 6-foot elephant for the Palo Alto Art Gallery in 2021. Matthaus has collaborated with renowned institutions like the San Jose Children’s Discovery Museum and the AbilityPath Art Program.
