SELF-PORTRAITURE IN PHOTOGRAPHY

Friday | September 27, 2024 | 1:00-2:00pm
Online via Zoom | Free

This virtual workshop will delve into photography as a medium to document oneself. In the age of selfies and mirror pics, what is a self-portrait? How has the camera opened up ways for us to capture not just the world around us, but also our changing selves? How does this medium allow us to create imaginative landscapes for ourselves? Looking at projects by Lee Friedlander, Zanele Muholi, and Laura Aguilar, among others, this discussion-based workshop will explore what makes self-portraiture compelling and how to interpret them. All levels welcome, and bringing your own work to share is encouraged!
