SLOW LOOKING | GENERATION: THE ROOTS OF MAKING IN THE ASAWA-LANIER FAMILY
Thursday, February 2 | 1-2pm PT
Thursday, April 6 | 1-2pm PT
Online
Wonderful things happen when we slow down and engage deeply with works of art. Join us in an interactive session as we look closely at selected artworks from our exhibition Generation: The Roots of Making in the Asawa-Lanier Family. The session will explore what we notice, wonder, and discover when we take the time to look closely and carefully.
Bring your curiosity as we practice engaging with two artworks and share our observations, perspectives, and questions, through a guided interactive program led by educator & teaching artist Suzanne Reich.
No prior experience of the curator's or artists' talks required.
About the Exhibition: Generation: The Roots of Making in the Asawa-Lanier Family is a group exhibition that brings together four generations from a San Francisco family of makers with work spanning 57 years, from 1965 to 2022. Inspired by our namesake, world-renowned artist Ruth Asawa, the exhibition serves as an opportunity to honor Asawa’s life-long commitment to community-based art education and activism in the arts.
Note: Slow Looking program takes place on the first Thursday of each month.
Registration: Free | RSVP is Essential
