Using simple folding techniques, participants will make some handmade books that can be made in all sizes for journals or special greeting cards. They can be made with a variety of paper for different effects.
Supply List:
- scissors
- bone folder (if available)
- 12 inches of thin ribbon
- adhesive - glue stick or fast drying glue
Book 1 - participants will need to prepare 4 sheets of paper cut to square 4x4, 5x5, or 6x6 inches,
Book 2 - prepare 2 sheets of paper cut to 5x5 inches and 2 pieces cut to 5x8 inches,
Book 3 and 4 - prepare 2 sheets of 8 1/2 by 11 or 11x17 paper
Paper must be able to be folded easily (no card stock, such as magazine pages, thin calendar papers, maps, scrapbook paper, music sheets, regular printer paper or colored and decorated paper.
Instructor’s Note: The books made in class can be used as prototypes for future projects as these book structures can be made very small or very large with so many different materials. We will not have time to decorate the books in class which adds another element to your book structures but samples will be shown.
