VIRTUAL DROP-IN: LEARNING HOW TO MODEL FORM IN ART
Wednesdays | June 16 | 1-2pm PT
All ages and skill levels
In this class, participants will begin by painting a 5-part grey value scale from dark to light. We will learn about the importance of learning about value in painting, explore different elements of a value image (shadow and light then broken down into sub-elements), and will mix or draw a value scale.
Participants will then all be working off of a common image of a sphere. Participants will sketch the sphere, then map the values we have mixed (or drawn) to the image. By breaking the image down into values, we can learn about how communicating a range of values portrays formin two dimensional art.
Supply List:
- water-based paint that can be mixed is ideal
- watercolor or pencil would also work
- paper
- water
- painting knife or plastic knife for mixing (paint brush also works!)
Instructor’s Note: We will explore both drawing or painting methods. Participants can use either a pencil or watercolor, depending on your preference.
