VIRTUAL DROP-IN: POTATO PRINTS

In this class you will learn how to make a relief print with a potato! Using a potato as our printing plate, we will learn how to carve into a potato, apply paint to its surface and create a print. We will discuss how to utilize positive and negative carving methods and how a multiple can be used in composition.
Supplies:
- 1 large potato, cut in half lengthwise
- exacto knife, carving tools or paring knife
- acrylic paint or tempera
- paint pallet (or flat surface you can put paint on, dinner plate usually works well for this)
- paper to print on
- pencil
- small paint brush
