VIRTUAL DROP-IN: SELF-PORTRAIT DRAWING

This workshop will explore a realistic approach to portraiture through observational drawing. Participants will explore the proportions and placement of the facial features, create a placement grid, and learn line drawing techniques to create a basis for self-portrait. No prior experience is needed.
Self-Portrait Drawing is a part of the three-session series that explores different approaches to creating a self-portrait, from abstract to expressionistic, and ends with an introduction of the head and face proportions as a basis for a realistic drawing. Participants may choose to attend one or any number of sessions.

Supplies:
- mirror (for an observational drawing)
- sketch or drawing paper
- thick background paper – watercolor or multimedia
- drawing pencil
- white eraser
- watercolor or acrylic paints (tray or tubes) – primary colors, plus black and white
- brushes (#8 or larger is preferable)
- water containers
*if using paint tubes - paper plate could be used as a palette
